What is it
Its a device that allows you to connect and capture
analogue video.
It connects via RCA cables through the device to USB to PC.
A while ago early 2009 I purchased an Easycap device, it was very reasonably
priced, so much so that I couldn't resist the bargain. It was advertised
as having Video Studio 8 as the bundled software, when it arrived surprisingly
the software was version 10.
I was already a Video Studio 10 user so the Easycap software was surplus
to requirements. although it was the SE version.
It was for all intents and purposes a good buy.
Unfortunately it did not work, not only did it
not work but it froze my pc.
I did manage to connect it and run Video Studio far enough to see some
capture settings, but that's as far as I got.
I tried the VS10SE version but whatever I did I could not make this device
work.

A year later mid 2010 I purchased another device, I
know once bitten twice shy should have been the order of the day.
Well this time the device seems to work ok.
It came bundled with Arcsoft ShowBiz DVD 2 software, ideal in capturing
analogue video. It provides for DVD-Mpeg2 capture, no other option is
available. but that's the type of video file required to burn a DVD.
If you have recently purchased a device bundled with Video Studio, and
are experiencing problems then its probably a fake.

We can of course use Video Studio as the capture software,
unfortunately describing the process varies slightly depending on which
version you use.
Its the way the software (Video Studio) recognises the connected device
as to what capture format it allows.
Using Corel X3 like Arcsoft only gives DVD-Mpeg2.
My version of Video Studio 10 gives all capture format options, but would
suggest choosing DVD as that seems compatible with the device.
Using Video Studio 10

After connecting the device to the computer Video Studio will show the
"Source" as USB 2861 Device, that is if you are using the Ezcap
Device.
